James Wood joined ACFR as the Deputy Chief of Operations on April 1, 2025. Chief Wood came to ACFR with over 20 years of prior experience in the fire service holding the ranks of Firefighter/Paramedic, Lieutenant, and Captain. He also participated in the disciplines of Technical Rescue and Wildland Firefighting as well as serving on the instructor cadre for the fire academy. He holds a DFPC Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor I, Incident Safety Officer, and Haz-Mat Operations certifications, is a Blue Card instructor, and is currently qualified as a NWCG Task Force Leader, Firing Boss, and Incident Commander Type IV. Chief Wood earned a Bachelor’s Degree from New Mexico State University and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University.
